One of the earliest obtainable maps of the District of Columbia, which was published in an atlas. The map shows the plan of Washington, D.C. with the Potomac River and the nearby city of Alexandria with the adjacenting borders to Maryland and Virginia. The map is surrounded by descriptive text on the District of Columbia, providing information on the climate, the rivers, cities and its history. A nice and decorative plan & map of Washington, D.C. French edition of the 1822 in Philadelphia published map by Carey & Lea. The actual map, which is surrounded by text, has the size of approx. 10 1/2 x 10 inches.

With many names of towns and small villages, as well engraved names of mountains, rivers, lakes and also names of Indian tribes are shown on this old historic map. Along the coastline with details of engraved sandbanks, bays and small islands. This map was published in Antonio Zatta's "Atlante Novissimo" as sheet I of his twelve-sheet map of the United States.

Steel engraving, hand colored in outline and wash. A fine engraved map, which is showing Mexico, California and Texas in many details, the North Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. The map is decorated with three finely hand colored engraved vignettes: gold washing in the region from Rio Sacramento and Rio San Joaquim, the ruins at Uxmal in Yucatan and the Mexican peasantry. The actual map was drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin. The illustrations were engraved by various artists: R. Radclyffe, W. Lacy, J. Rogers, J. H. Kernot, J. B. Allen, T. Fleming, H. Winkles, R. Baker after drawings by H. Warren, H. Winkles and H. Wray.

It is published 1806 at the famous German publishing house 'Geographisches Institute' in Weimar. The map provides lots of details with many place names, routes or streets, rivers, mountains, etc. The map reaches from the Appalachia mountains towards Savannah and from Georgetown towards Long Bay and the Cape fear river.

A highly detailed map of Texas, compiled and drawn by Captain Radefeld, published by Joseph Meyer in his famous edition of the large,Zeitungsatlas' around 1850-53 in Hildburghausen. Map shows the western boundary of Texas encompassing Santa Fe, the eastern boundary encompassing area of Louisiana along the Red River and into the Mississippi River delta.Texas is shown very detailed on this map with engraved place names, streets, routes, rivers, mountains and even a silver mine, salt lakes and Indian tribes are shown on the map. The outline hand color is from the period as published. Information on the various Indian tribes is given on the map as well. Texas extends in the north towards the neighboring Wyoming with the Missouri territory, in the west to New Mexico and the Utah territory. This map was published in the so-called,Zeitungsatlas', which is famous because of the great details of the various US maps, which were included in this atlas. Most of these maps were based on the cartographic information by Tanner and were updated with German geographic sources.
