Copper engraving, later hand colored. Engraved by Christian Gottfried Zschoch after Johann Friedrich Starke. Johann Friedrich Starke (1802 Kölln near Meißen - 1872 Dresden). German painter mainly of flowers and fruits. Starke went 1824 to Paris and decided to the subject of painting flowers. He worked for the duke of Orlean and returned 1851 to Dresden. He was one the most favourite flower painters in his period. Two of his painting are even now in the collection of the Louvre in Paris.
